When it comes to your first Orlando trip it’s kind of hard to know where to begin! So after going for the first time ourselves this past December (2017) I’ve compiled our 3 must-rides and 3 must-eats from each park!
Hollywood Studios : Half-Day
Right now I classify this as a half-day park… but when Toy Story Land and Star Wars Galaxy Edge open up it will definitely become a full-day park!
Tower of Terror
Such a timeless ride since 1994. With a cool queue and crazy ups and downs this one is a must do!
My second favorite ride in all of Disney World! The take off at the beginning is insane and the soundtracks rocks.
Toy Story Mania
I didn’t expect to like but ended up loving this game ride where you compete with the other person in your buggy!
Catalina Eddie’s – Pizza + Caesar Salad
This is a quick and delicious stop on the way from Rock’n’roller Coaster on the way towards Toy Story Mania!
Trolley Car Cafe – Starbs Fix
Right near the park entrance so you can hit it up on the way in or out of the park.
Sweet Spells – Candy Apple
These treats make great gifts to bring home!
Epcot : Half-Day
Another Disney World classic. This ride opened in 1982 and basically predicted Face Time.
The views and smells on this ride are breathtaking as your travel the world from the comfort of your seat.
Frozen Ever After
A sweet water ride on a Norwegian vessel starts with a really beautiful queue.
Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe – Troll Horn
I didn’t understand the line out the door for this tiny bakery until I tasted this light and fluffy Norwegian treat!
Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie – Raspberry + Lime Macaron
Literally anything you get here will be amazing. And the whole place smells like Angel because of the perfumery next door.
La Cantina de San Angel – Tacos de Barbacoa
The water views from this Quick Service restaurant are amazing and they compliment the tacos and nachos perfectly. Just make sure to save room for any Festival kitchens!
Magic Kingdom : Full-Day
Seven Dwarves Mine Train
The newest ride at Magic Kingdom that takes your memory back to the 1938 classic.
One of the original rides from when Disney World opened its gates in 1971. Save this ride till after the sun goes down!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
This ride is like the mine train but twice as long! Ride this during the day for a great view of the park and then again at night for a little more intensity.
Cheshire Cafe – Cheshire Cat Tail + Cold Brew Coffee
Hands down my favorite snack at Magic Kingdom. It’s a twisted croissant filled with chocolate and covered in icing!
Gaston’s Tavern – LeFou’s Brew + Cinnamon Roll
This apple juice frozen drink is the perfect thing to cool you down on a warm day. And bonus, it’s close to a new restroom that seems rarely frequented!
Aloha Isle – Dole Whip Float
I’m going to be brutally honest and say that I don’t really get why people enjoy this… but I feel it’s a Magic Kingdom staple and you have to try it for yourself!
Animal Kingdom : Full-Day
I still have no idea how they turned us around on this ride after going backward for a little bit! Pretty thrilling!
Go on this in the morning if you can! The whether is cooler so the animals are out and about. We went at 10:30 on a December morning and I think we saw every animal!
This opening day attraction from 1998 is still exciting and topical with movies like Jurassic World out!
Flame Tree Barbecue – Baked Mac + Cheese with Pulled Pork
Literally my favorite Quick Service meal in all of Disney World. So satisfying and there is ample seating behind the building where you can feed the birds and look out at Everest.
Satu’li Canteen – Cheeseburger Steamed Pods
This is like an Asian-American fusion foodie dream!
Creature Comforts – Starbs Fix
Great proximity to the main street through the park so you can hit this on the way in or out of the park.
Universal Studios + Islands of Adventure : Full-Day
Escape from Gringott’s
This ride is in Diagon Alley on the Universal Studios side of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Lots of 3D effects in this ride so motion sickness people beware!
Another 3D effect heavy ride on the Hogsmeade side of Harry Potter World in Islands of Adventure. It has a unique riding mechanism! You basically travel sideways hanging from the ceiling!
There’s a location on both sides of the Hogwart’s Express so you can include this in your plans even if you only do one park! I beat out two 5 year olds to have my wand selected.
Leaky Cauldron – Specialty Chicken Sandwich
Apple butter is involved and it’s so satisfying. The atmosphere is seriously straight out of the movie.
Butter Beer Cart outside Three Broomstick’s – FROZEN Butter Beer
Frozen butter beer is the only way to go! Although to be honest I’ve never tried warm butter beer. I even had foam on my upper lip and seriously felt like Hermione.
Honey Duke’s – Chocolate Frog
Part of me fully expected the frog to jump when I opened the packaging. Hey a girl can dream!
